Anarkali Churidar
Anarkali Churidars is now days stealing the shows. Where ever I go, I see Anarkali Patterns only. From my previous posts, you may be aware that I use to stitch my churidars and dresses myself. I haven't technically learned stitching.. But I have an interest on stitching the dresses myself, in new patterns and new models..

I was experimenting with the churidars and even frocks for my kid... but still I was not aware of the way, How I could stitch the Anarkali... Recently I saw a very cute Anarkali pattern, which my friend was wearing... later on during her birthday also, she wore another one... I asked her about the same and she told that, it was not ready made... she had got it stitched from a tailor.
Because of my interest, she gave me those two pattern, to try it out. This is the first one I tried out and since I was not sure about, how it will turn; I thought to give it a try using my Mom's sari, which she was not wearing due to its stiffness.. The light green one..
Now I could stitch both the top and bottom using the sari, but Shawl was a question for me... For that I bought a pink cotton shawl and also a 1/2 meter polycotton (Silky cotton material) cloth of pink shade to stitch along with the churidars. I selected pink, because there was light pink embroidery on the sari/saree.

Cutting
Now comes the cutting part... In this hub, I am under the impression that you have a basic idea of stitching churidars or else please read my Hub
How to stitch a churidar with step by step instruction; if you are a beginner..
Also please note that I can't explain it in the technical way, this is simply the way I used to stitch Anarkali...
Take Enough length of sari or material in full length for the top and fold it into four. And now place the Pattern of Anarkali and mark the cuttings. It will be short at the top and the width of the cut increases to the bottom. and you will see that the flair is getting larger. Now cut along the marks and carefully stitch it back.

Now that you had stitched both the front and back side..., again put the two in 1/2 folded position and mark the neck, hand, length and chest width and also how much flair you need. cut it along the mark with space to stitch.
I had taken the embroidered portion of the saree as my sleeves. again for anarkali, we use gathering bottom. i.e., there will be extra cloth at the bottom of the pants. You can make the measurement with the normal pants and extent the same lengthwise and cut the same. Now using the cut pieces of top and bottom of the churidars, you may need to get the lining pieces too.

Stitching
Top Portion
Now its time to stitch, stitch the Lining and top portions at the shoulder area, with cloth materials inside out and then invert the same and stitch along the neckline. Do it for both necks. now join the shoulder portions of churidars together and then the sleeves, along with lining. stitch the whole top from sleeve to bottom - the Anarkali top is ready !!!!
Bottom Portion
Also to stitch the bottom, every other thing is similar as that of the normal pants, only thing is its width is smaller when coming to the bottom and also you have to put a slit at the bottom and stitch a Hook at the bottom opening portion, to keep the pant in position. Now your Anarkali top and bottom is ready.

Extra Works & Piping
I had given extra piping work with the pink poly cotton material at the sleeves and Anarkali tops, bottom flair... so that my pink shawl will match much to the churidars.
Do try it out and let me know if you have any doubts...
